The game was well and truly on this week against Coldstream who began the match as we did, under no illusion that a win would be easy.
Cougars had the edge in the 1st and 2nd quarters with tackles and smothers from both sides resulting in a low scoring game. We had some difficulty getting the ball into our scoring zone due to Cougars pressure.
The deficit at ½ time looked ominous, but we maintained the effort and went into the final quarter trailing by10 points. Early into the 4th quarter, Jazz and Zac got the ball forward and Jared took one his great marks and goaled.
This gave us a sniff, as the cougars had not managed a goal since mid 2nd quarter. Four minor scores had us trailing by 2 points when Kieren marked and goaled to give us the lead with 5 minutes left to play. The game was played out after a minor score by Jimmy.
Credit is due to Coldstream who played hard and to the smaller players from both sides who were not intimidated by confrontations with their larger opponents.
